The #17 ranked Sheridan College Generals hosted rival Casper College at the Bruce Hoffman Golden Dome on Saturday night, picking up a 66-62 conference win. The Generals came into the game averaging 90+ points per game this season, but it was their defense they had to rely on to hold off the T-Birds and push their overall record to 18-3 (4-2). Taking a 10-point lead into halftime, the Generals looked like they were one run away from opening the game up. However, Casper College came out hot, starting the 2nd half on a 9-0 run to cut the deficit to 1. The Generals would respond with a 12-0 run of their own with half of the points coming from freshman forward, AJ Bramah. Although the Generals would build their lead to 13 points in the 2nd half, their struggles from the 3-point line (1-15) would allow Casper to hang around. After a free throw from Channel Banks with 30 seconds remaining to push their lead to 61-54, the Generals were able to withstand a couple late 3 point plays and hold on for the win.
AJ Bramah led the way for Sheridan College, scoring 16 points and hauling in 6 rebounds. Channel Banks came up big at the free throw line, knocking down 10 and finishing the game with 14 points. Battling foul trouble most of the 1st half, Camron Reece still managed to put in 12 points and pull down 7 rebounds.
The Generals will be on the road for 4 of their next 5 contests, starting with a trip to Northwest College on Wednesday night.
