The Sheridan College Generals men's basketball team held their breath as the final at-large bid was given out on Monday morning. Unfortunately for the the Generals, that bid did not come their way. After being upset in the Region IX semifinals by Western Nebraska Community College, Sheridan College needed some help from around the country from other teams still playing in their respective district title games. That help did not come and the Generals missed out on a trip to Hutchinson, Kansas and the NJCAA National Tournament.
Although the season didn't end the way the Generals had hoped, it was still a very exciting and memorable year for the young team. Finishing with a 28-5 overall record and the regular season Region IX North championship, Sheridan College's roster only consists of 3 sophomores, leaving lots of optimism and high expectations for next years squad.
Coach Hammer had this to say about the 2017-18 season; "It was a pleasure for this coaching staff to work with these young men. They approached every practice and game the right way, and never got satisfied with any of their victories or rankings. I'm sad to see our sophomores move on, they represented this school and program the right way. However, I'm very excited to see what these freshmen can do next year! Thanks to everyone that followed and supported this team this year!"
