The Sheridan College men's rodeo team rose to #1 in the Central Rocky Mountain Region by winning the annual contest they host earning more than half of a 580 team point total in one event - bareback riding. The championship round performance was dubbed "Chris LeDoux Sunday" in honor of the 1976 world champion bareback rider who gained worldwide fame as a singer after his retirement from the rodeo arena. LeDoux spent part of his college rodeo time in Sheridan. This year the bareback riding lineup includes Chance Ames and Hunter Carlson - both Wyoming natives - who look to be on the way to notable pro careers. Ames was the weekend winner spurring for 161 points on two bucking horses including a championship round tilt for 81 points and the victory. Generals Coach Marc Gilkerson was grateful for the efforts of everyone on the Sheridan College roster and the day concluded with a rallying call led by Chance Ames.
