This past weekend the Sheridan College women's basketball team started off their season in Cheyenne, WY with a pair of games against two Region IX-South teams.
On Friday, November 3rd the General's earned their first victory of the season with a 73-53 win over McCook Community College. The team was paced in scoring by sophomore Raelynn Keefer (Forsyth, MT) who finished the game with 14 points. Freshmen Madisan Chavez (Hardin, MT), Lily Jex (Spanish Fork, UT), and Aubrey Meiwald (Hardin, MT), also made strong contributions on the offensive end by scoring 12 pts, 10 pts, and 10 pts, respectively. Furthermore, Meiwald had a game high, 9 rebounds.
In their second match-up of the weekend on Saturday, November 4th, the Generals were defeated by the host team, Laramie County Community College 82-68. The LCCC Golden Eagles got off to an early lead and despite many efforts by the Generals to battle back, they could not close the gap. Sheridan College was once again led in scoring by sophomore Raelynn Keefer with 23 points. Keefer also had a team high 4 assists and 4 steals. Fellow sophomore, Brooke Cargal (Gillette, WY) contributed 18 points, which included a 50% (4-8) effort from beyond the arc.
The Generals are back on the road this weekend as they travel to Gillette College to play Salt Lake Community College Friday afternoon, and Snow College Saturday morning.
