During the 43rd Annual Lions Club Thanksgiving Basketball Classic, hosted at the Bruce Hoffman Golden Dome, the Sheridan College women's basketball team earned two victories to bring their overall record to 3-5. The first victory came against Rocky Mountain College's junior varsity squad and the second against Region XIII's Williston State.
On Friday, November 24, the Generals defeated the Battling Bears JV team 83-50. Sophomore guard, Raelynn Keefer (Forsyth, MT) continues to shine for the generals as she led all scorers with 20 pts. Fellow sophomore guard, Brooke Cargal (Gillette, WY) also had an impressive game, going a perfect 6 for 6 from the field, which included a 3-3 effort from behind the arc. She finished the game with 15 pts. The only other General to score in double-figures was freshman forward Kassie Hoyer (Belt, MT) who chipped in 11 pts. Hoyer and freshman guard, Lily Jex (Spanish Fork, UT), also had pristine assist to turnover ratios. Both players dished out 3 assists and 0 turnovers. Noora Parttimaa (Finland), a freshman forward, led the team in rebounding with 6 boards.
In Saturday's match-up, the Generals walked away with a 94-46 victory over the Tetons of Williston State. It was an incredible team effort as 4 players finished in double figures. Sophomores Ashleigh Frampton (Australia) and Brooke Cargal contributed 19 pts each, while freshman Noora Parttimaa and sophomore Carmen Ramey (Aurora, CO) had 13 and 10 pts, respectively. Guards, Raelynn Keefer and Aloma Solovi (Salt Lake City, UT) also chipped in 9 pts a piece. Furthermore, the team had a season high 23 assists, led by Ramey with 5. Ramey also had a game high 6 steals. Freshman, Aubrey Meiwald (Hardin, MT), had 6 rebounds to lead the team on the glass.
The Generals are back on the road this week. They will face the Cougars of Western Nebraska Community College on Wednesday, Nov. 29 @5:30 PM, at the Cougar Palace in Scottsbluff, NE.
