On Saturday afternoon, the Sheridan College women's basketball team traveled to Miles Community College where they suffered their 5th loss of the conference season. The Pioneers defeated the Generals 68-53.
Miles jumped out to a quick lead but Sheridan battled back, ending the quarter down three points, 13-10. In the second quarter, the Pioneers used their signature run and jump full-court pressure to create problems for the lady Generals, who were only able to score a mere four points in the quarter.
Throughout the first half the Pioneers managed to force 14 turnovers which they converted into 15 points. This propelled them to take a 34-14 point lead at the half. In the second half, Miles pulled their press but Sheridan was never able to cut the lead down as the two teams basically went basket for basket.
The Generals were once again led in scoring by sophomore guard Raelynn Keefer (Forsyth, MT), with 12 points. She was followed by freshmen Kassie Hoyer (Belt, MT) and Aloma Solovi (Salt Lake City, UT) with 8 points apiece. Solovi also led the team in assists with 4 for the game.
Sheridan is now 5-5 in conference action and 12-14 overall. On Wednesday, Feb 14, the team will travel to Crow Agency for a match-up against the Rams of Little Big Horn College. Tip-off is set for 5:30 PM followed by the men's game at 7:30 PM.
