Coach Quiggle is in his 1st year at the helm but his 16th year of coaching overall. A native of Southern California, Quiggs grew up in the beach town of San Clemente. Still, he is familiar with the Midwest/Rural countryside as he completed his Bachelor’s degree at Central College in Pella, class of 1999. He later went on to earn an MBA from University of Phoenix in 2006. And most recently, he earned his Master’s in Coaching and Athletic Administration, MCAA in 2017.
While the majority of his coaching was in Southern California at the high school and club levels, his most recent position was as the Head Volleyball Coach at Southwestern Community College, Iowa (SWCC). Prior to SWCC, Quiggs served as an Assistant Coach at the University of Jamestown, North Dakota. Quiggs has achieved success at all levels, winning multiple league titles and a CIF title with Aliso Niguel High School (ANHS) Girl’s program, and an undefeated league title in his first year heading up the Boys program at ANHS. As an Assistant at Jamestown, the program finished the season ranked #15 after making it to the Sweet 16 at Nationals.
Before his 7 years at ANHS, Quiggs had coaching stops at Laguna Beach Volleyball Club (2006 – 2008) and Capo Valley Christian Schools (2005 – 2008.) Upon arriving at ANHS, the Varsity program hadn’t won a league game in 2009. Although only the Head Frosh coach at the time, Quiggs stated that within 4 years, he expected the program would win league. As the Varsity Assistant, they did indeed go on to win league in that 4th year… And the 5th year another league title and culminated with the CIF title… And a third straight league championship the 6th year.
In his 5th year at ANHS, Quiggs took over as the Head Boys Varsity coach while continuing to be the Assistant Girl’s Varsity Coach and Head Girl’s JV Coach. That first season (2015) his team went undefeated in league and won their first outright league title in program history.
After coaching for 11 years at the high school and club levels, Coach Quiggs began his second Master’s program in 2015. In January of 2017, he completed his MCAA and began seeking coaching opportunities at the collegiate level, coaching summer camps and the fall season at the University of Jamestown in 2017.
While all the winning has been fun, Quiggs aims to invest time and effort into his athletes and building a winning culture. “I expect to win and in order to do that, you must constantly strive to improve and perfect things. Winning isn’t easy nor does it come overnight. But winning is why we compete.”
Outside of coaching, he enjoys surfing, wakeboarding, and snowboarding, playing guitar, and ukulele, and cooking for his family and friends. Yes, cooking: he loves entertaining large groups and feeding people. He lives his life with a strong Christian faith, understanding and caring personality.
